Information about MMR vaccinations in North Somerset

As a parent of a school age child you will probably be aware of the increasing number of measles cases in England this year as highlighted in the news this week. Currently, North Somerset has no confirmed cases of measles, but there is always the possibility that this could change and that children who have not had one or both doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine could be exposed to the disease unnecessarily.

Therefore, we are urging all parents, and especially those with children between 10 and 16 who may have missed out on the vaccine when they were younger to get their children vaccinated now. If you are not sure whether your child(ren) has been vaccinated you should contact your GP practice or health visitor and ask them to check their records. If they haven’t had one or both of the MMR vaccinations you should make an appointment to get them vaccinated between now and the start of the new academic year in September as a precautionary measure.

ECO-SCHOOLS BRONZE AWARD

A Huge congratulations to our Eco Warriors who have been awarded the Eco-Schools Bronze Award.

The award recognises their achievement in working towards an Eco-schools mark for our school in recognition of our commitment to working towards a sustainable site.

In order to gain the award, the Eco group had to set up eco group; meet at regular intervals; conduct an environmental review; have a designated display board and create an onoing action plan.

Well done to everybody involved and all your hard work in order to achieve this status!
